Core's original adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth will be making its U.S. debut at the TCC Roper Performing Arts Center this November. After a successful spring debut at Les Fêtes Internationales du Théâtre (18th edition) in Quebec, Macbeth will be intimately staged in the Roper's Studio Stage and will only seat 93 guests per show. Certainly Shakespeare's tragedy but Core is bringing all the imagery, movement, and music that has become CTE aesthetic. “Timeless stories and classic characters can and should be reimagined, retooled, and reset,” says Edwin Castillo, co-director of Core Theatre Ensemble. “For example, with this production we've made the three witches in the original script into a single role, omnipresent throughout the show." Generally considered one of William Shakespeare's most dark and powerful plays. It tells the story of a Scottish general who is told by witches he would one day become king. When his ambition takes over, murder, intrigue and of course tragedy are the results.
